Hi, I’m Sheryl Cuisia aka Sheryl C, sherylinmotion or SherylXInvests!

I’m the founder of The Engagement Appeal—or TEA, like the hot drink. We’re building the retail IR ecosystem to make investor relations work for everyone, not just institutions. Our ambition to be the connector of all things retail investing gives us a unique edge in driving this movement forward.

☕️ TEA is the home of inclusive investor engagement.

We have one clear focus: increasing the visibility, voice, and value of individual investors in corporate and policy conversations. We start by deepening engagement between listed companies and everyday shareholders.

We believe retail investors aren’t just stakeholders—they’re catalysts. And if engaged properly, they can help regenerate UK capital markets from the ground up.

Why subscribe?

Very simply: there’s no other blog quite like mine - because there’s no one else quite like me.

I focus on inclusive engagement as the foundation for mutual understanding and growth. All opinions are my own, shared in a style that is authentic, bold, sometimes playful, and always honest.

Because I know my subjects - shareholder engagement, activism, stakeholder capitalism, crypto, and houseplants - like the back of my hand (supported by decades of experience, nerdy nous, and a healthy dose of pop culture knowledge), I speak from both the head and the heart. And from time to time, I make light of serious matters - because learning should be engaging. After all, why be flat when sparkling is an option, right?

What you’ll get by subscribing:

  • Direct, no-nonsense, unfiltered opinions, always backed by real facts and research.

  • Tangible, practical solutions to help you achieve measurable outcomes - if you’re ready to put in the work!

  • Inspiration to think outside the box and be your brave, bold self - whether you’re planning your next investor roadshow, activist campaign, or just deciding between a Monstera Deliciosa and a Rhaphidophora Tetrasperma variegata.

About Me

I’m a nextgen retail investing & engagement advocate. As an entrepreneur, I founded Boudicca from Equiniti, and my current social ventures, The Engagement Appeal (TEA) and Aplanty Impact. I have led 500+ M&A, activism & AGM campaigns. Today I’m a ‘serial’ AGM attendee, PhD researcher & individual investor.

POV: AGMs are considered dull and retail shareholders are perceived as dumb, resulting in everyday UK shareholders missing out on the opportunity to have their say in the way companies are run, even though it's their right as investors.

Shareholder engagement is key to a thriving capital market, but many investors feel disconnected, confused and powerless.

I’m here to change that.

Whether through amplifying individual shareholder voices, decoding overly complex investing and AGM speak or promoting financial education and inclusion - I’m on a mission to empower the next generation of investors (those who are tired of a tired system) to understand their own financial power and drive meaningful change in the corporate world.

How am I doing this?

☕️ TEA - helping align companies and individuals on financial literacy and inclusive engagement.

✨ FinGlitz - bettering 'finfluence' and understanding between companies and nextgen investors with a fresh, inventive approach to financial literacy and inclusion.

Why? Because we need a retail shareholder revolution led by a diverse community of people (of all ages, genders, ethnicities, sexualities, socio-economic backgrounds, religions) who actually care about people and planet and achieving global prosperity.

Why me? I’m a shareholder engagement nerd, with 20+ years of corporate comms and investor steering. My experience and purpose have been developed from years working as a specialist consultant running 1,000 proxy solicitation and activist campaigns, about half of which I led personally.

I'm also an exited entrepreneur - starting up a shareholder comms and corporate governance advisory firm and selling this to a FTSE 250 company, Equiniti Group plc. I co-founded the Women's Company Secretary Circle (WoCoS), I'm a NED of a private company, and was a long-time judge on The Non-Executive Director Awards. I was also the inaugural Entrepreneur-in-Residence of the King's Entrepreneurship Lab at Cambridge University, and am presently a Visiting Entrepreneur.

My bags of entrepreneurial energy and can-do attitude have helped propel me forward as a leader, outside of the box thinker, and innovative problem-solver.

Now this drive is directed at reinventing corporate shareholder engagement.

My Track Record

As a specialist adviser and consultant, I worked on many transactions - mergers and acquisitions, other corporate actions, as well as shareholder activism and AGMs - often spinning multiple campaigns at once like a master plate-spinner. Still, I always made sure my clients felt like they were my only one.

My list of projects, clients, campaigns, and transactions runs long. For now, here’s a glimpse of the early years - right up to when I founded my own company, Boudicca Proxy.

In the first few weeks of launching Boudicca in January 2012, I landed the biggest UK merger of the time - Xstrata-Glencore. That one deal shaped my 2012, alongside another 30 or so mandates. ’Twas a very good first year indeed! Success breeds success, they say - and Xstrata opened the floodgates to more mining mandates, more M&A, more activism, and more governance work across sectors. I’m grateful for the opportunities - and while luck always plays a part, it was relentless hard work that got me there.

Six years later, I sold Boudicca. Four years after that, I exited fully.

Now, I run TEA - The Engagement Appeal - a very different kind of venture.
Unlike Boudicca, TEA isn’t a traditional advisory firm. We promote inclusive investor engagement - not transactional advice, not conflicted mandates. We’re here to work across the ecosystem: good and commerce, companies and investors, nextgen and veterans. We want to open the doors wider, not just spin plates.

Because when you focus on inclusion, everyone gets a seat at the table - and that’s where real change begins.

Notable highlights include:

  • Xstrata-Glencore merger (2012-2013)

  • The rebuttal of activist Nat Rothschild at Bumi plc (later ARMS) (2013)

  • Work for Elliott Advisers on Alliance Trust (2008-2015)

  • 2011 General Meeting of the London Stock Exchange Group (2011)
