‘TEA’ with Tim Livesey @ the Show
By the time I reached Tim Livesey, Non-Executive Director of Metals Exploration, late afternoon, he’d likely been on his feet since 9am, fielding a tidal wave of questions, brochures, and coffee-fuelled curiosity. So yes—he looked justifiably done.
But once the conversation got going? The man was gold. 'Humaning’ stands is generally reserved for those other than non-exec directors, but there Tim was, doing his part for the company—and being a model for exemplary investor relations and team work.
Thanks for taking the time to speak with me, Tim!
Here’s what we learned:
Metals Exploration produces ~80,000 oz of gold annually in the Philippines
The company is debt-free and recently reported $96 million in free cash flow
They’ve just acquired a project in Nicaragua—construction kicks off next month
Operations in the Philippines have logged 25 million+ hours without a lost-time incident
They employ 800+ locals, with only 12 expats—a real commitment to local leadership
Being Filipino myself (I grew up in Canada hence my twang), I was very interested to hear about the company’s ESG practices, which as Tim puts it, is how ESG should be done. They have received several presidential awards for their approach apparently.
Tim delivered it all with the kind of weary charm and quiet precision you only get from someone who knows their stuff and has repeated it at least 46 times today. Respect.
No hype here—just a look at a mining company that’s serious about results, responsibility, and regional empowerment.
